The quiet record
Your e-reader kept the list. It never went anywhere. Until now.
Every Kindle® e-reader with Vocabulary Builder turned on keeps a quiet record: every word you have looked up, the sentence you met it in, the book, and the date. It is all sitting in one file on the device, and Amazon has done almost nothing with it for a decade.
Plug in.
Connect your e-reader to your computer with a USB cable. It appears as a drive.
Find the file.
Open the device and find system/vocabulary/vocab.db. (On most devices the system folder is right at the top level.)
Drag it in.Drop the file onto the
import page. Vocabularium reads it right there in your browser and shows you everything it found — words grouped by book, each with its original sentence. Pick what to keep, and they flow straight into your study queue.
Why the sentence matters. A standard flashcard says "perspicacious: having keen insight." Yours says the sentence from the novel you were reading in bed last March, with the title underneath. You do not just recall the definition — you remember the scene. That is not a gimmick; it is how memory encoding works.
The privacy part, plainly: your file is parsed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. We never see your reading data — and we could not if we wanted to.

Highlight a sentence with a word worth keeping, and import that too — the same drag, the same browser-only parsing. Highlighters welcome.
Then the words become a book of their own
Once your lookups are in, Vocabularium can compile The Words of My Reading Year — a print-ready keepsake with one chapter per book and every word shown in the sentence you met it in. Print it, or save it as a PDF. A commonplace book you did not have to keep.
No e-reader? Nothing is lost
This is one on-ramp among several. The
baseline test and the
graded book lists are the foundation of the whole thing, and they need nothing but ten minutes and a browser.
